Guiding Principles

The Steering Committee adopted the guiding principles below to serve as guardrails for the design of the future state budget model that will address existing process challenges identified through the current state assessment.

1. Allocate funds to enable mission-driven, strategic priorities and core investments at university and unit levels.

2. Make decisions with data.

3. Transparently demonstrate how funds flow through the university

4. Promote shared accountability for 91×ÔÅÄ’s financial and operational performance.

5. Enable unit and university long range planning with predictable funding.

6. Create a model that is manageable, understandable and responsive to 91×ÔÅÄ’s complexity.

7. Incentivize excellence and encourage collaboration and entrepreneurship.
